Week 14: Drywall Installation

This is the second week of drywall installation and our place is beginning to look like a home. We're hoping to get our closing date by the end of week (hopefully before the Fed increases rate but probably not). This post will be a lot of pictures.

Pre-drywall Inspection

We had our pre-drywall inspection on Friday, 12/4, which was 3 days later than our original appointment but it went well despite the delay.

Entering Week 12

Where has the month gone? So much progress has been made on the condo and we're four days away from our pre-drywall inspection.

The Roof...the roof..the roof is on (End of Week 8)

So much progress has been since the last post. As you can see by my cheesy title, our roof was installed the end of last week and this past week shingles will be installed.

Entering Week 6

We've been stopping by the site at least once a week and it's crazy how much changes from day to day. Since the last post, they've framed the 2 more floors and plan to have the roof trusses up on the last week of October.

Entering Week 5

Where has the time gone? Hubby and I have been really busy with work, me especially with busy proposal season and tons of training but now that everything has slowed down that I can post some updates.

Breaking Ground

We've been so busy for the past 3 weeks that the blog has been woefully ignored. Lots of exciting events have occurred including the fact we broke ground for foundation!

Breaking ground sooner than expected

We stopped by the model on Saturday and our SR told us something surprising. It looks like they're looking to conduct pre-construction meeting sooner than she expected, she's looking at mid-month September. When we last talked to her it was going to happen October so that was a unexpected but really good news. She'll be reaching out to us this week to schedule the meeting.

Waiting game

It's been ages since we lasted posted as there's really not much to report. We've found out that Ryan is looking to break ground around October rather November which means closing around February rather than mid-March. Until then there's really not much to do but wait.

Very late Finalization post

It's been a couple of weeks since our last post. We've been very busy due to some family commitments, specifically my sister's wedding. As I was in the wedding party, my concentration was getting ready for the wedding so haven't had time to post. It was awesome but definitely ready to concentrate on the condo again.

Wiring/Security Selections

It's been a week since our Guardian appointment to select our wiring and home security selections and I wanted to share what we selected.

We meet with Wayne of Guardian last Thursday and it was very fast and easy. He emailed us the wiring and security options before the meeting and we drew exactly where we wanted all the cable, phone, data, and etc. connections so our meeting could be productive and not drawn out. Below are the items we selected.

Tile & Flooring Selections

We selected our flooring and tiles from T.A.C. Tile in Elkridge on Saturday. It was so great to choose the finishes that will be in our new home. Although it will take a long time before we will actually see them installed it was awesome to start visualizing our new home.

Angel, the interior design sales rep at T.A.C was awesome! She's been helpful from the start of this process. We reached out to her prior to the appointment and she provided us with the listing of all the options available for the Ryan Home Picasso model. She provided us with the model numbers for everything so we were able to research everything online prior to the appointment and get preliminary pricing on our selections.

Our story

My wife, dog, and I currently live in downtown Silver Spring area and determined that we needed something a bit bigger. Our preference was to stay in Silver Spring, we loved the accessibility to public transit, the Beltway, DC, and the cultural and restaurant scene but found that we were priced out of the area unless we were willing to compromise on the living space size, age of the home, and/or work needed. We did not initially think to search outside of Silver Spring area but determined that we needed to be open minded and that's how we found the Greenbelt Station development.
